Monthly living expenses (including tuition) in Japan for international students on average nationwide comes to about 138,000 yen. Regionally, the Shikoku region has the lowest living expenses at 104,000 yen, while the Kanto region has the highest living expenses at 154,000 yen.

COE (Certificate of Eligibility)

The COE is a certificate that is necessary for obtaining the Status of Residence Visa when entering Japan. Required documents including the COE will be submitted to the Japanese Embassy or Consulate before arrival in Japan, and a visa will be issued in your passport. Upon landing in Japan, show the visa and COE to the Immigration Officer and you will enter Japan upon receiving the Status of Residence “College Student.”

Valid passport
12 years of general education or above.
Age +2 pass until 24 years, Bachelor passes until 28 years and Master pass until 32 years can apply for student visa to Japan.

Permitted part time job for 28 hours a week during a semester
Permitted part time job for 8 hours a day while you are on a long-term vacation

An essay (purpose of study in Japan)
Gap certificate if the student has some gap in academic history
Bank balance certificate with statement for 3 years
Annual income certificate for 3 years
Occupation letter if your sponsor is employed

Relationship certificate to make sure the relation between the student and his/her sponsor (relationship certificate photo must be within 3 months)
